Utrecht College of the Arts graduate Charlotte Wagemaker showcased her stunning experiments with laser cut layered patterns and laser etched paint gradients at Ventura Lambrate in Milan last year. I was intrigued by the work as it creates so many potential possibilities to soften and texturise surfaces and create depth and intricacy in a  relatively simple way.

Wagemaker has experimented with different stains over different wood types, showing a wide variety of colours and transparencies.
